If I have a water line break after hours, who do I call?

If you have an emergency service request after normal business hours, call the Water and Light Office and the number will be on the recorder for an on-call water employee.

Is there a charge to have my water turned on or off due to an emergency?

No. If you have a service request, call the utility office to schedule an appointment at least 24 hours in advance.

If I buy a home in the village, do I have to come into the office to have my water and electric turned on?

Yes, the Village requires a deposit (for tenants only) and water/electric application to be completed and signed (for owners and tenants).

I have a leak. Do I still have to pay the full amount of the water bill?

Yes.

What do the letters on the left of my bill stand for?

Turn your utility bill over and there is a list of codes that may appear on your bill.

How is my water usage calculated?

The village meters water in one thousand gallon increments only.

What is the minimum water bill?

$24.00

What is the minimum electric bill?

$7.00

How safe is the water I drink?

The Village tests daily, monthly, and annually to meet EPA requirements so your water is safer than bottled water.

How can I pay my utility bill?

You have four options: (1) Bring your bill into the utility office during regular business hours. (2) Mail your bill. (3) Place your payment in an envelope and drop it in the drop box on the side of the building of the utility office. (4) Pay your bill on line through our website using a credit or debit card.

How often do you estimate your water and electric meter readings?

We try to take actual readings each month for both. However, in inclement weather, we may have to estimate water readings because we cannot get to the water meter due to ice and snow. If your meter reading is estimated, your bill will have a notification on it.

How can I pay my utility bill?

What form of payment do you accept for my utility bill?

We take cash, money orders, checks, and credit and debit cards.

I would like to put up a shed, garage, fence, swimming pool, etc. on my property. Do I need a building/zoning permit?

When are council meetings?

The first and third Monday of each month at 6:00pm in Council chambers.

Can anyone come to a council meeting?

Council meetings are open to the public and anyone may attend. If you have an issue you would like to address Council on, please call the village office at 937-843-9152 and ask to be put on the agenda.
